InteMedica Offers A Powerful Solution For The FDA
Ban On OTC Products For Children
Acute Benign Solutions for Pediatric Patients
On October 19th a panel of experts at the FDA voted to ban scores of popular OTC cough and cold products intended for children under the age of 6 years old. The vote comes a week after major manufacturers agreed to withdraw more than a dozen cough and cold products labeled for use in infants and babies under the age of 2 years.
Pediatric cough and cold medicines were approved in the early 1970s despite almost no evidence that they worked because regulators generally assumed that drugs that worked in adults would also be helpful in children. Since then, dozens of drugs first tested only in adults have been found to be entirely ineffective or improperly dosed for children.
There are about 800 different pediatric cough and cold products sold in the United States that use one or more of 39 different drugs. Parents spend around $500 million every year buying nearly 95 million boxes containing 3.8 billion doses of medicine. The makers of these products include such giants as Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth and Novartis that make such products as Pediacare, Robitussin and Triaminic.
Pediatricians and physicians do have an alternative to these OTC drugs when small children have signs and symptoms of a stuffy nose, or a fever, earaches and cough that come with a viral cold or the flu. InteMedica has a suite of homeopathic solutions which include:
Fever and inflammation – GN Fever/Inflammation
Viral syndrome –VR Viral
Cough – LU Cough
Sore throat – EN Throat
Ear pain – EN Ear
Stuffy nose – EN Sinus
Teething and related symptoms - PD Teething
Ear Infections - PD-OTM
All these homeopathic formulas may be used singly or together, as symptoms demand. Homeopathic formulas are quite safe for infants and children and have no side effects.
Dosage: For children over the age of 2 years - chew or suck 1 tablet every hour as needed for symptoms. For infants dissolve a tablet in a spoonful of water and rub on gums and around the mouth or sip the water.
